Notes & Combos
A quick season this time around, given how fast you rank up with the new win streak mechanic. I had a crazy 10-game win streak last night, which skyrocketed me into Masterball with a little extra work this morning.
"Eevee Grove" was a balanced expansion, as it added some serious threats to the meta, but without making them essential to survive, unlike the Ultrabeasts from last season. The deck I employed is the classic Darktina with the Nihilego spin that got somewhat popular last season. I made a few last-minute changes to the Trainer cards today. I used 2 Potions and 1 Red for most of the climb, but I substituted them with 2 PC Lady and 1 Red Card today. The reason is:
- Potions are fine, but you often don't need to use two at the same time, so PC Lady is preferable because she gives a bit more health and crucially cures from the now very popular Poison Barb.
- Red let me clutch a few wins as he does, but over time it seems more crucial to reduce the cards in oppo's hand given the widespread use of EG Eevee and Sylveon ex.
If you are new to the game, keep in mind that you don't want to use all your available resources immediately, but you also should not be too conservative. Oppo usually plays Guzma, so don't assign all tools immediately or they will get snatched. They also usually play Mars and/or Red Card, so try to hold in your hand an amount of cards that would make those cards useless.
For the rest, it's a classic Darktina.
