Mega Absol ex Hydreigon

Notes & Combos

I forgot to submit a report last season, but here goes.

Beginning of the season I went with baby Absol + Chingling + Red Card with lackluster results. T1 going first Chingling is great, after T1 it's a brick. In a format that Indeedee is a staple, tiny chip damage will be erased. Opposite for Red Card, T1 Red Card conflicted with Copycat. The baby Absol was mid, easily worked around, but by just playing Dark Energy it is deterrent enough for your opponent to not bench everything T1, granting you a bigger Copycat.

Double Furfrou + Rocky Helmet ensured a good start to games. Double Copycat boosted consistency for quick Hydreigons. Indeedee was like a continuous Potion, often repairing Hydreigon away from KO range. X Speed is all-in-all great reducing your hand size for a big juicy Copycat, and it retreated an unlucky T1 Mega Absol. Since every energy is vital, conserving one energy can save the game.

There weren't any terrible matchups. Furfrou was great at hitting Suicune within KO range for a T2 Hydreigon and their deck drawing power would grant me a greater Copycat. You can easily exhaust Altaria and Oricorio decks with Hydreigon alone. The issue against Altaria is that their hand sizes are kept low, but you can stall a turn or two before using a Copycat. Venusaur matchups were close fights. They tend to play double Repel, so you have to keep that in mind before putting Absol in the active spot.

As for flex spots in the deck, I personally wouldn't change a card. Giant Cape could add longevity, sure. Rocky Helmet is such a boost for Absol, essentially dealing 100 damage instead of the normal 80 that wouldn't put enemy Absol in KO range.

I gotta give thanks to all the Red Card and Mars users for giving me better hands.
