Mega Altaria ex Darkrai

Master Ball from Philosophy on May 26th, 2026

Notes & Combos

Ended season at #5070!

Season A3 finally saw a stable rise of Mega Pokémon other than the big three from Mega Rising (Blaziken, Altaria, Absol). Despite finding what I needed to play Mega Sceptile and Mega Lucario, however, I preferred to play it safe with decks I was comfortable with and shoot for another high placing. I actually played Mega Absol-Hydreigon for much of the season, with some great success at first, but getting some serious losses towards the end of the two weeks, when many players started using Grass decks at high ranks. So, I decided to feature a very popular deck I only used for one day, but that skyrocketed me into the top 7k from early Masterball.

Unfortunately, the sleepy strat is incredible. Even if oppo wakes up immediately, you rack up some nice damage to help M-Altaria KO, and the synergy is apparent, with the sleepy team powering up M-Altaria even if idle. Moreover, Swablu ALSO puts enemies to sleep if needed, and M-Altaria is supereffective against the omnipresent M-Lucario. Unlike the most popular build, I added one extra Lisia for consistency and one Training Area (powers up Altaria but also, sometimes more importantly, destroys oppo's stadium) instead of one of the Copycats (less reliable than Lisia here) and Poncho.
