Mega Altaria ex

Notes & Combos

Crimson Blaze was a bad expansion. The new Mega Pokémon seemed bad on paper, and even the one that seemed like it might have more to say, Mega Zard Y, ended up being a disappointment. The season was dominated by Suicune ex decks, still going as strong as ever with the addition of Greninja ex, and by two Megas from the giga expansion that started year 2, Mega Altaria and Mega Absol.

I played around with all three archetypes this season. First, I tried a "classic" Mega Altaria deck with Jirachi and Sableye, but I soon realized that the meta had evolved and the deck was not able to keep up. Then, I tried some versions of Suicune and Absol, with both doing decent, and then I concluded the season with this deck. Currently, it sits at Tier 2 on the website, and the only difference with the most popular version is the use of new Froakies over the old ones (I can't imagine for the life of me why people would prefer old Froakie, but it doesn't make too much of a difference anyway).

I can't believe Greninja has been around since day 1 and is still an absolute threat. DeNa should find a way to nerf it for sure, it is just too good when paired with Cyrus.
